Improve your clinical practice with practitioner mentoring
Brad’s Brainiacs: Microbiome Mentoring
My mission is clear: provide new practitioners with the knowledge and expertise necessary to effectively interpret microbiome reports and utilise the results to make significant improvements in their patients. That’s why I created Brad’s Braniacs: Microbiome Mentoring, a program designed to support newly graduated practitioners advance their clinical experience. This program bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and practical application. Through my own clinical experience, I aim to educate practitioners to navigate complex microbiome data with confidence, identify actionable insights, and revolutionise patient care.
About Brad’s Brainiacs: Microbiome Mentoring
Brad’s Brainiacs: Microbiome Mentoring is a 6-month online mentoring program for newly graduated practitioners to gain expertise in interpreting microbiome reports and integrating the results into an effective treatment plan. This program equips new practitioners with practical skills and tools to confidently navigate complex microbiome data. By immersing yourself in interactive learning experiences, real-world case studies, and comprehensive education, you'll not only enhance your ability to utilize microbiome analysis effectively but also revolutionise patient care outcomes. This program also allows fellow Brainiacs to ask all their gut-related questions using an interactive Google document.
Topics Covered
Module 1 – Advancing Your Clinical Practice
In our first module, we'll concentrate on elevating your clinical practice to new heights. We'll delve into essential topics such as patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for gut-related conditions, intake forms, recommended supplement and pathology companies for collaboration. Additionally, we'll explore effective strategies and tricks for attracting clients to your clinic, along with unique methods to increase income and maximize your time in practice, including fee structures, collaboration ideas, passive income streams and best methods to advertise. I'll also share insights on how AI can support your clinical practice. In essence, we'll cover everything you need to know about running a successful clinic focused on gut and microbiome health.
Module 2 – Supplements For Gut Health
In our second session, we will explore the most effective supplements for gut health and modulating the microbiome. Practitioners will learn how to create their own compound prebiotic blend to support gut health in their patients. The focus will be on expanding your supplement knowledge and advancing your dosage understanding, empowering you to provide even better care to your patients.
Module 3 – Microbiome and Gut Testing
During our third session, we'll be discussing the different microbiome tests available. Not all microbiome tests are made equal, some provide accurate and comprehensive information and others use outdated technology. We'll be focusing on various testing methods and determining which ones offer the most accurate insights. I'll also be shedding light on factors that can influence the precision of functional markers such as transport and temperature. I'll share case studies where I have sent the same stool sample to multiple labs to highlight the similarities and differences between all the labs.
Module 4 – Understanding Microbiome and GI Markers
In Module 4, we will delve into the details of microbiome and gastrointestinal markers, including fecal pH, calprotectin, occult blood, lactoferrin, SIgA, zonulin, and pancreatic elastase. You will learn how to interpret pathogen panels and effectively manage identified pathogens in microbiome reports. Discussions will focus on measuring microbial metabolites such as mucin degradation, oxalate, methane, propionate, IPA, acetate, butyrate, hexa-LPS, B. fragilis, H2S, BCAA, TMA, and beta-glucuronidase. Don’t worry, you’ll also learn about species and how to understand this data.
Module 5 – Microbiome Interpretation
In Module 5, a structured method for reviewing and evaluating microbiome reports will be shared. You will learn how to effectively identify red flags, assess gut terrain, and review dysbiosis indicators through interactive sessions and case study analyses. By applying a checklist approach in real-world scenarios, you will gain practical expertise in interpreting microbiome reports with precision and confidence.
Module 6 – Microbiome Case Study
During module six, we will use the learnings from the whole mentor program to decode several microbiome case studies and develop effective treatment plans. The focus of this session is treatment prioritisation. You’ll learn what aspect of the microbiome should be treated first and the most effective treatment options to use.

Practitioner mentoring
One-on-one mentoring sessions are designed to provide personalised support to naturopaths and nutritionists. These sessions are an excellent way to gain a deeper understanding of your patient and how to best support their health. During a one-on-one mentoring session Brad will break the case down and create the links between the pathology reports and patient’s health. Evidence-based advice for the most appropriate treatments will be given with patient handouts provided where available. A non-bias recommendation on supplementation dosage, duration, and products will be discussed.
Before the mentoring session, please email any pathology, a brief description of the case and key areas you would like to discuss during the session. Mentoring sessions can be done via phone or Zoom, please indicate your preference.
